The Beauty of Movement
Movement is emotional, sensual, and transportive. Either through the actual or artfully designed movements, the story of a film is enhanced and much more immersive. That includes the movement in the directed action, the capture of nature’s spontaneous happenings, or the scripted and intentional.
Movement takes the audience on the journey inside the film. They “feel” the wind. They “hear” the stillness or subtle rustle even if without audio. They join in the “visual mechanics” of the subject, the actors, the editing, literally, moving the story forward. They read the body language of motion for the signs and reactions of emotions. Movement is the key that turns a still into life.
Documentaries as a Platform for Change
We are a society that inhales the visual, stories. and content now more than ever. Documentaries, soaring in popularity, being produced in blockbuster fashion, and more commercially viable, present a unique and unprecedented opportunity as a platform for change.
Branded Entertainment: Athletes in Film
Creating a story associated with the athlete’s brand requires trust and chemistry. The collaborative process with the creative team mandates active listening and the ability to translate the athlete’s vision successfully. Stories work when they influence, persuade and emote. The relatable connection of the audience’s own experiences is at the core of effectively crafting the athlete’s story, as well. Audiences love to cheer for the underdog; learn lessons from the athlete who hits bottom and then makes a victorious comeback; support the student athlete who thrives in spite of significant challenges and emerges as a leader; and share in the journey of an athlete who’s injured by his sport only to realize a greater purpose.

Movie Theaters are My Stadium
Just as in sports, filmmakers have had cancellations, postponements and empty venues during the pandemic.
Compare those times when you attended a game in person with special someones enveloped in the magic versus watching a game at home. They’re certainly tremendous benefits and necessities for most of us watching the game at home. However, don’t you reminisce or wax nostalgic with the electrically charged atmosphere of those games when you escaped into that unforgettable? The same is true with films. Find out why movie theaters are my stadium.
Solitude vs. Collaboration
Creatives need both solitude and collaboration to perform at their highest level. So what does that mean in this time of lock downs, pandemics and remote working? And what have we learned?
The Autobiography of My Art
All art is autobiographical.
Our passions and related choices for our artistic endeavors are whispered to us by our “muse”…which can be seen in the reflection of our mirrors. We are uniquely moved, fashioned and transformed by the people we meet, the places we travel, the life we lead, what we read, watch and listen to, as well as, the artistic projects we pursue.
